ILOILO – A former mayor of Tubungan town dared to clash with reelectionist Cong. Janette Garin of the 1st District in the May 2022 elections.
On Monday, former mayor Victor Tabaquirao’s lawyer John Ryan Anatan filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) before the provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) office.
“Taw-an ta ligwa ang mga tawo nga magpili sang lideres nga wala ginadiktahan,” said Tabaquirao in an interview with Panay News.
Tabaquirao served as mayor of Tubungan for nine years, vice mayor for six years and councilor for three years.
He will be running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (wing of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi).
Iloilo’s 1st District is comprised of Oton, Guimbal, Miag-ao, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Igbaras, and San Joaquin./PN
