HUA SIONG College of Iloilo Red Phoenix cruised to their fourth straight victory in the secondary boys basketball of the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet at the Western Institute of Technology gym in Iloilo City.
Reynold Tupas and Jann Paul Villariza led the defending champions Red Phoenix to a 73-67 win over CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights with 20 and 17 points, and helped keep their slate (4-0) clean on Friday. The Silver Knights are now 2-2.
St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets, meanwhile, bounced back from their first loss with a 78-56 domination over Ateneo de Iloilo (1-3). Dexter Hans Gange had 17 points while Roy Oscar Jacinto added 12 for Panda Rockets (3-1).
Sun Yat Sen High School (1-3) finally barged into the win column after a 73-54 victory over PAREF-Westbridge (1-3). Jan Christian Teves had 26 points while Cairon Gan had 19 markers for Sun Yat Sen.
In category B, University of San Agustin defeated Santa Isabel College of Iloilo 89-35 and moved to their third straight win. Santa Isabel are now 1-2. Agapito Clarito Jr. and Sandy Balakrishnan had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for San Agustin.
Iloilo Sacred Heart School, meanwhile, captured their second win in three matches with a 67-38 victory over Saint Joseph School (0-3). Paul Roland Campos had 11 points for Sacred Heart.
In the tertiary category, Iloilo Doctors’ College clinched their first win in three games after tarnishing the erstwhile unbeaten Western Institute of Technology (2-1). Lorence Magtulis and Marvelous Taghap had 17 points each for Doctors’.
John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University tied with WIT on top of the standings after an 80-71 win over University of San Agustin (1-2). Fritchard Dulce had 28 markers for John B./PN
