MANILA – Marina Tushova once again broke the PVL scoring record, leading Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers to a 20-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-6 victory over NxLed Chameleons in the Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Russian reinforcement finished with 49 points, built on 46 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace, to go with 14 excellent receptions as the Solar Spikers improved to a 4-2 win-loss slate.

Tushova’s 49-point output broke the previous PVL scoring record of 45 points that she also set during the Solar Spikers’ 13-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, and 15-13 upset over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on August 1.

According to Tushova, she was not aware that she was able to break the PVL record anew, as her sole focus is to help the Solar Spikers win as many games as possible in the tournament.

“What is on my mind? One goal which is to win, and that’s it,” Tushova said. “What I want is more wins for my team; I don’t care about my numbers. My teammates did a lot of job in this game; they have my back.”

Iris Tolenada added seven points and 17 excellent sets; Norielle Ipac contributed seven markers; and Patty Jane Orendain and Lourdes Clemente contributed six and five points, respectively, for Capital1.

Jhoana Maraguinot finished with 19 points, Chiara Permentilla added 15 markers, and reinforcement Meegan Hart ended with just 13 points as the Chameleons dropped to 1-5.

Meanwhile, Cignal HD Spikers outdueled Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-23, 28-26, 25-27, 25-14, to move up to 5-1 win-loss slate and clinch a quarterfinals seat. The Foxies dropped to 2-4.

Reinforcement MJ Perez led the charge with 25 points, Frances Molina added 14 points, and Roselyn Doria and Chin Basas chipped in 13 and 11, respectively, for the HD Spikers.

Akari Power Chargers, on the other hand, stayed undefeated after six games following a 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 18-16 escape over Galeries Tower Highrisers. Oly Okaro top-scored for Akari with 32 points./PN
