ROXAS City – Two separate bomb threats caused alarm on Tuesday at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Building along McKinley Street in Brgy. 3 and at the Capiz Government and Business Center in Brgy. Tiza here.

Police authorities were alerted past 11 a.m. by security personnel of the Capiz Government Business Center after a note written on a piece of paper was found glued to the wall of a comfort room at the second floor of the building. The note warned of a bomb planted in the building, Roxas City chief of police Superintendent Dante Tayco told Panay News.

At around the same time, the Roxas City police station received an alert from BIR personnel that their office had received a text message from an unknown texter informing them of an alleged bomb planted inside the BIR building, Tayco added.

Tenants and stall occupants of the Capiz Government Business Center were forced to evacuate the building while the BIR employees temporarily stopped their office work to pave the way for trained K9 dogs from the K9 unit of the Philippine Coastguard to sweep the buildings of any potential bomb.

Tayco, who served as Task Force Commander of the Composite Response Team, declared the bomb threats were a hoax after the two buildings were declared “clean” around 3 p.m.

“It’s a hoax. There were no recoveries. We believe nga may mga tawo nga may interes nga magsinabad,” Tayco said.

Tayco added that they are still looking into a possible motive for the suspect to send the prank note and text message about the “planted” bombs in the two buildings.

Ara na sa kamot sang aton mga investigators, gina usisa naton ang mga logbooks kag mga CCTVs (closed-circuit television) sa palibot sang building,” Tayco said.

After the authorities declared the two building safe past 3 p.m., tenants of the Capiz Government Business Center were allowed to go back to their respective stalls and BIR employees returned to their normal office hours./PN
