ILOILO – Two people died and two others were injured after a multiple vehicle collision yesterday morning, February 3, in Barangay Bolong Este, Sta. Barbara town.
Sta. Barbara police identified the fatalities as Jeric Hualde Huyo, 29, a security guard from Barangay Ito Sur, Cabatuan town, and taxi driver Jomar Senerado, 39, of Barangay Nadsadan, San Joaquin.
Police Captain Raffy Señerez, officer-in-charge of the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station (MPS), said the Calinog Bus Line (CBL) bus driven by Agusto Latoza, 49, of Barangay Caninguan, Lambunao, was attempting a U-turn when the taxi crashed into the rear of the bus.
The collision, Señerez added, caused the bus to veer into a Janiuay public utility jeepney (PUJ) driven by Ryan Bandiola, 38, from Barangay Danao, Iloilo City.
The impact led to the death of Huyo who sustained fatal head injuries after he was thrown off the PUJ, while Senerado died after being pinned inside his vehicle.
Señerez said two PUJ passengers identified as Queencie Belgira and Alma Martinez suffered injuries, including arm lacerations and potential spinal damage.
As of this writing, officers of the Sta. Barbara MPS were still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to assess any potential traffic violations./PN
