ILOILO City – Two alleged drug personalities landed in jail for sale of suspected shabu and illegal possession of a firearm in Barangay North San Jose, Molo district.

Aliases “Mokong”, 39, a resident the village’s Zone 1, and “Russel”, 38, of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district, were arrested around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, in a buy-bust operation carried out by the Iloilo City Police Office’s City Drugs Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

Police recovered 11 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams and with an estimated market value of P340,000. Also seized was a caliber .38 revolver with six bullets from Russel.

According to Captain Ryan Christ Inot, team leader of the CDEU, Mokong had long been involved in drug trafficking in the district. Russel, he said, was Mokong’s accomplice, serving as the runner, delivering drugs to their regular buyers.

The CDEU chief added that Russel was also linked to multiple theft cases, mainly targeting students from Iloilo Doctors’ College.

The suspects were detained at the Molo police station and face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Russel faces additional charge of violating RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)./PN
