ILOILO City – Two fetuses were discovered inside the compound of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 on Muelle Loney St., Barangay Concepcion, City Proper district.
According to Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson for the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), the first fetus was found buried on the ground outside the building and the second one was located on a sala seat inside the DENR-6 premises on Monday, January 13.
Both fetuses were believed to be between 10 and 15 weeks old, leading authorities to consider the possibility that they may be twins.
They were later brought to the Iloilo City Forensic Unit.
The discovery meanwhile raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the fetuses’ abandonment. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team collected DNA samples from the fetuses, which will be crucial in helping identify the mother and determining the cause of this tragic incident.
Meanwhile, the DENR-6 has expressed its cooperation with the police./PN
