Two ‘illegal’ obstructions, BTAO urged

BACOLOD City – The chairman of the committee on transportation of the Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to remove obstructions along sidewalks.

Councilor Dindo Ramos pointed out the obstructions: vulcanizing shops, sari-sari stores and second-hand car shops, among others.  They occupy the bike lane and the footwalk.

Ramos cited a memorandum from the Department of Interior and Local Government in relation to road clearing, on top of an existing city ordinance.

City Ordinance No. 818 established tow-away zones in various streets of Bacolod City, allowing the impounding of vehicles through the issuance of impounding receipts, and providing fees and penalties for its violation.

The ordinance aims to ease the flow of traffic throughout this capital city./PN
