ANTIQUE – Authorities of the Hamtic Municipal Police Station, along with the Hamtic Bantay Dagat, caught two fishermen in the act of illegal fishing.
The suspects were apprehended during the seaborne patrol operations along the coastline of Barangay Mapatag, Hamtic, Antique early Monday morning, April 1.
Police Captain Dandy Gonzaldo, officer-in-charge of Hamtic police, identified the arrested individuals as siblings “Jeffrey,” 30, and “Vicente,” 25, both residents of Barangay Banawon, Hamtic.
The police seized their fishing vessel valued at P800,000. Also recovered were fishing nets and gear estimated at around P700,000 and four containers of fish with a market value of P20,000.
The suspects were promptly brought to the Hamtic police station for documentation before being turned over to the local government unit for appropriate disposition./PN
