ILOILO – Approximately 155 grams of suspected shabu worth P1,054,000 were recovered from two suspects in an antidrug operation in Barangay Caranas, Janiuay, Iloilo around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, March 8.
Joint operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Unit and the Janiuay Municipal Police Station identified the suspects as aliases “Benjie”, 43, and “Krys”, 26, both residents of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Seized from their possession were one small sachet and three big heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the said illegal substance.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of Police Regional Office 6, lauded the successful operation and emphasized the importance of sustained antidrug efforts.
“This should serve as a warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade, there is no escape from the law,” he said, urging further investigations into the suspects’ possible connections.
The two suspects were detained and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
