Two new COVID-19 active cases in Antique

SAN JOSE, Antique – The province of Antique recorded two more cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing to three its number of active cases.

These new cases were a 33-year-old male from Sibalom town (now under quarantine) and a 27-year-old female from Anini-y town (under home quarantine).

The other was a 68-year-old female from Libertad town. She is currently at a hospital.

Also as of Dec. 8, Antique’s cumulative COVID-19 cases since March reached 83 – 48 local cases, four returning overseas Filipinos, 13 locally stranded individuals, and 18 cases outside Antique – 18.

Seventy-nine cases have so far recovered and only one died.

“We know how to handle our COVID-19 cases, but we are not really over-confident,” said Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.

She cited Antiqueños for being vigilant.

“Nagasunod sang protocols ang mga Antiqueño,” she stressed, and these included the wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and washing of hands with soap and water or disinfectant.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
