ROXAS City – Two centenarians in this city received their cash gift amounting to P100,000 each on Tuesday, January 28.
Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Vice Mayor Inday Teresa H. Almalbis turned over the cash gift and letter of felicitation from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to recipients Caridad Denoya, 103, from Barangay Baybay, and Rosita Degala, 104, of Barangay Culasi.
“Nalipay ako nga nabaton nila ini nga insentibo nga makabulig gid sa ila kinahanglanon,” Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said.
DSWD’s awarding of P100,000 cash incentive to a centenarian is under Republic Act 10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016, which honors Filipinos who have reached the age of 100 years old whether residing in the Philippines or abroad.
The law provides that centenarians will receive awards and incentives that include a cash gift of P100,000, a letter of felicitation (for living centenarian) signed by the President, and a posthumous plaque of recognition (for deceased centenarian) from the national government thru DSWD.
Also, the local government units (LGUs) are directed to give awards and incentives wherein amount for the cash incentive will be determined by them through a resolution or ordinance./PN
