ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ most wanted persons fell into the hands of the law recently.
In a successful joint police operation in Aklan province, the No. 1 most wanted person for carjacking was apprehended.
The 18-year-old Edmar Irarum was cornered in Barangay Cerrudo, Banga at 1:54 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19
He was served with an arrest warrant citing a violation of Republic Act No. 6539, or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972.
The warrant, signed by Hon. Bienvenido Barrios Jr., Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 6, Branch 3 in Kalibo, Aklan, dated Jan. 16, 2024, has a bail set at P300,000.
The jobless suspect was taken into custody by the Banga Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, in Antique Province, collaborative police efforts led to the successful apprehension of a 63-year-old individual known as “Boy.”
He is the No. 5 most wanted person in the region for statutory rape.
The arrest took place at 10:07 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Barangay Jinalinan, Barbaza.
The apprehension follows the execution of an arrest warrant issued by Hon. Mario G. Andres Jr., Presiding Judge of RTC-6, Branch 64 in Bugasong, Antique, dated Jan. 18, 2024, with no bail recommended.
“Boy” is presently in the custody of Barbaza police, awaiting proper disposition./PN
