Two WV’s most wanted persons nabbed in one-day ops

ILOILO – Western Visayas police arrested two men for murder and rape cases in separate operations on Monday, April 29.

Alias “Sonny,” 56, and the region’s No. 7 most wanted person facing murder charges, was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Patnongon, Antique on Monday morning.

Joint operatives of the Patnongon Municipal Police Station and Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Intelligence Unit carried out the arrest through an arrest warrant issued by Hon. Mario G. Andres Jr., presiding judge of the Sixth Judicial Region – Branch 64 in Bugasong, Antique.

At 2 p.m., alias “Jerico,” the region’s No. 8 most wanted person, was captured in Bitano, Legaspi City, Albay by virtue of an arrest warrant for rape issued by Hon. Bienvenido P. Barrios Jr., presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region – Branch in Kalibo, Aklan.

Aklan police and PRO-6’s Intelligence Unit led the arrest in coordination with the Legaspi City Police Station.

Both courts recommended no bail for the suspects.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky lauded the dedication and untiring effort of the aforementioned units in tracking the fugitives.

“The arrests of these two fugitives clearly show the Philippine National Police’s commitment to account these wanted persons. Rest assured that those remaining law evaders in the region will be our next subjects for police operations,” he said./PN
