MANILA – Former University of Santo Tomas (UST) men’s basketball team head coach Aldin Ayo has been slapped with indefinite ban by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

Last week, the UAAP Board of Managing Directors issued a recommendation against Ayo after he spearheaded the UST men’s basketball team’s training camp at his hometown in Barangay Capuy in Sorsogon City.

“The ban is based on the UST report that showed Ayo endangering the health and well-being of the student athletes under his charge when he conducted the training during a government-declared state of public emergency intended to arrest the COVID-19 outbreak,” the UAAP said.

Ayo, a champion coach of UAAP with De La Salle University Green Archers and National Collegiate Athletic Association with Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, tendered his resignation as UST men’s basketball squad head coach last September 5 ending a two-year stint with the Growling Tigers./PN
