UAAP, NCAA, MPBL standouts banner PBA draft

SEVENTY-one rookie applicants are hoping against hope they will be selected by any of the 12 teams in the league during the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft this afternoon at Robinsons’ Place in Ermita, Manila.

All the applicants are quality rookies. They were either former standouts from UAAP or NCAA or are currently plying their trade in different semi-professional leagues like the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

From UAAP, Ateneo Blue Eagles has six former players applying in rumored top overall pick George Isaac Go, Nieto twins Matt and Mike, Aaron Black, Vince Tolentino, and Adrian Wong.

Also listed is former Blue Eagles Team B player Francesco Asuncion.
Far Eastern University Tamaraws has five ex-players in Richard Escoto, Hubert Cani, Wendell Comboy, Barkley Ebona, and Arvin Tolentino.

The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers has four in Renzo Subido, Marvin Lee, Mario Bonleon, and Daniel de Guzman.
Adamson Falcons has three in Valandre Chauca, Sean Manganti and Simon Camacho.

De La Salle University has two in Rashleigh “Prince” Rivero and Bacolodnon Kib Montalbo.
National University Bulldogs, University of the East Red Warriors and University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons have one each in Jess Diputado, Rey Suerte and Gelo Vito, respectively.
From the NCAA, Lyceum Pirates has six in Negrense Spencer Pretta, Jaycee Marcelino, Jayvee Marcelino, Jeffrey Santos, Ralph Tansingco, and Dexter Zamora.

San Beda Red Lions has five in Ilonggo Clint Doliguez, Negrense Jeramer Cabanag, Jose Mari Presbitero, Amiel Soberano, and Yvan Ludovice.
Letran Knights has four in Jerrick Balanza, Edson Batiller, Christian Balagasay, and Rey Publico.

University of Perpetual Help Altas has three in Negrense Edgar Charcos, Daryl Singontiko and Justin Alano.

San Sebastian Stags also has three in Allyn Bulanadi, Alvin Capobres and Earvin Alvarez.
College of St. Benilde has two in Ilonggo Yankie Haruna and JJ Domingo. Arellano University Chiefs has Kent Salado and Michael Canete.

Mapua Cardinals has Andrew Estrella and Hesed Gabo while Jose Rizal University has Marco Balagtas and Emilio Aguinaldo College has Argel Mendoza.
From MPBL were Mike Ayonayon, Chris Bitoon, Aris Dionisio, Cris Dumapig,  Junjie Hallare, William McAloney, Luke Parcero, James Regalado, Jordan Rios, and Von Tamberling.
Other draftees were former Mighty Sports Philippines gunner Roosevelt Adams, Boyd Eugene Anderson Jr., Reynaldo de Mesa, Reinhardt Mendoza Jason Riley, Maurice Shaw, Mark Taylor, and Travis Thompson.
The draft order for this year’s PBA Rookie Draft will feature Gilas Pilipinas special draft among Go, Nietos, Bulanadi and Suerte, who will be chosen by Columbian Dyip, Blackwater Elite, NLEX Road Warriors, Alaska Aces and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
After the special draft, the regular draft will proceed with the teams picking from the 66 aspirants. Dyip will once again select first followed by the Elite, Road Warriors, Aces and Painters.
The Painters will have two more selections after that followed by NorthPort Batang Pier, Magnolia Hotshots, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, TNT KaTropa and the Dyip to conclude the first round./PN
