MANILA – After less than a month of delay due to fears of the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, the University Athletic Association cmen’s and women’s volleyball will finally take court action at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City starting March 3.
The league echoed in a statement on Wednesday that the much-anticipated collegiate sporting even in the country will have two games featuring the men’s and women’s squads of the University of the East and Far Eastern University.
Unlike in the previous seasons, there will be Tuesday games consisted of one men’s and one women’s in the new adopted format.
Meanwhile, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and
Sundays will have a program format that will alternate games
between the men’s and women’s. However, game schedules will still be at 9 a.m.,
10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. like the previous volleyball seasons.
“With the success of the Men’s Volleyball team in the last SEA Games, it is about time that we put Men’s Volleyball side by side with the Women’s Volleyball,” said UAAP President Emmanuel Fernandez.
In the first round of the games, the teams facing off for the men’s side will also be the same pairing in the women’s match, while the second round showdown will depend on the first round standings.
Aside from the SM Mall of Asia Arena, some matches will also be played at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig./PN
