MANILA – National University Lady Bulldogs cruised to its second win in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball after a 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 12-25, 15-7 win over Ateneo Lady Eagles at the San Juan Arena.
Jaja Santiago led the way with 26 points, on 20 attacks, 4 blocks and 2 service aces on Wednesday night while Jasmine Nabor added 11 markers for Lady Bulldogs, which climbed to 2-0 win-loss slate.
Nabor’s presence was felt further in the fifth set as she delivered the game-sealing points for the Lady Bulldogs by unloading three consecutive aces to close out the one hour, 41 minute match.
“Hats off ako kay Jasmine (for) produc(ing) ganoon karaming aces sa isang laro. I love her,” said Lady Bulldogs head coach Babes Castillo.
Jhoanna Maraguinot finished with 17 points while Kat Tolentino and Pauline Gaston added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, coming off a valiant stand in a five-set loss to reigning titlist La Salle, made quick work of University of the East Lady Warriors, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21, to enter the win column.
Cherry Rondina followed up her sensational 28-point showing against the Lady Spikers with a 20-point, nine-dig outing to lead Golden Tigresses in improving its record to 1-1 win-loss.
“After two games, it is still a good start for us. Although natalo kami ng first game namin, hindi siya mas masakit. It’s a good indication na kaya naming sumabay,” said Golden Tigresses mentor Emilio Reyes./PN
