ILOILO City – This year’s Undas here was “generally peaceful”, said Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS-1) commander, Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Center focused on public safety operations across the city through the deployment of cops in cemeteries and other places people usually flock to.
Aside from conducting checkpoints, city police stations also maximized police presence in strategic areas and cemeteries, and set up police assistance desks to assist motorists and travelers.
In an interview with Panay News, Sangrines said there were no untoward incidents; no prohibited items were confiscated, too.
“We can attribute this success sa aton nga security coverage, of course. Sa pagbinuligay sang tanan, sa gin-establish naton nga police assistance desks. Indi lang mga uniformed personnel ang yara naka-deploy. Yara man ang katapo sang force multipliers naton, madamo sa ila ang nag upod bantay sa nagkalain-lain naton nga mga sementeryo nga ready to respond gid,” Sangrines said.
She lauded the different police stations and units for doing their duties and responsibilities in ensuring a peaceful observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ days.
“Ginpatuman gid naton ang ‘no vax, no entry’ policy, gin-check gid naton kung may ara sila proof nga vaccinated sila, bisan partially vaccinated na lang, kay klaro sa EO nga ginpagwa,” Sangrines added.
The “no vaccination, no entry” policy has been implemented to ensure that only vaccinated individuals can enter cemeteries from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, as per the Executive Order of Mayor Jerry P. Treñas./PN
