ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 6 is reminding drivers and commuters that the road in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia will close from May 17 to 20.
The flyover construction will resume with the installation of 24 girders. According to DPWH- 6 Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto, the road closure will include the U-turn slot in the exit near Christ the King Memorial Park going to the intersection of the circumferential road. The closure will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Ang kumpletuhon ta subong ang the whole segment gid sang approach, up to intersection, kumpletuhon ta anay ang tatlo ka spans,” Fruto said in an interview with Panay News.
Fruto added the 24 girders will be installed by the International Builders Corporation (IBC). The DPWH regional director is asking drivers and motorists to refrain from going through the Ungka road to lessen traffic congestions.
“As much as possible kon puede kita kalikaw likaw lang kita temporary lang naman and ang sa aton nga mga public utility vehicles, ang paying commuters as much as possible ginatinguhaan ta nga indi maglayo ang re-routing sang traffic that’s why open ang aton detour. Nagapangayo lang kita sang diutay nga consideration sa aton mga motorist.”
The DPWH along with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pavia gave the list of alternative routes:
* For motorists from Balabago, Jaro district; Leganes and Dumangas going to Iloilo City:
1. Circumferential Road to Barangay Tacas–Quintin Salas–Jaro Plaza
2. Circumferential Road–Buhang–Jaro Plaza 3. Iloilo Capiz Road (New Route)–Jaro Plaza
*For motorists from Iloilo City going to central towns (Sta. Barbara, Cabatuan, Maasin, Janiuay, Lambunao, and Calinog)
1. Jaro–Quintin Salas–Barangay Tacas–Pavia Road
2. Jaro–Circumferential Road–City Mall Pavia–Pavia
3. Jaro–Mandurriao–Jibao-an–Circumferential Road–Pavia
* For motorists from central towns
1. Pavia–Barangay Tacas–Quintin Salas–Jaro Plaza
2. Pavia–Barangay Jibao-an–(Bangga Singko)–Mandurriao
3. Sta. Barbara–Taft Street–Agutayan Road–Pagsanga-an Road–Tacas, Jaro district
