Untaran suspends classes in San Jose

San Jose, Antique

SAN JOSE, Antique – Southwest monsoon rains prompted Mayor Elmer Untaran to suspend classes from preschool to senior high school on Thursday.

Untaran’s decision was based on information and warnings from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train cautioned the public from crossing rivers due to possible flash floods.

The PDRRMO has received a report at noon on Thursday pertaining to a person from Sibalom town who went missing while crossing a river, said Train.

“There is now an ongoing search and rescue operation in Mau-it River in Sibalom by my staff because of a missing person,” Train said in a phone interview.

The provincial disaster management officer did not identify the supposed missing person.

“Meanwhile, please refrain from crossing rivers or going to your farms,” Train advised the public. (PNA)
