BORACAY – Aklan governor Florencio Miraflores issued revised guidelines for incoming travelers to Boracay Island.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated tourists are now allowed to enter provided they present negative results of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted within 72 hours prior to their departure to Aklan.

Fully vaccinated tourists are still required to show vaccination certificates or vaccination cards issued by their local government units.

All domestic tourists – fully, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated – are required to submit proof of residency and confirmed bookings from Department of Tourism-accredited Boracay accommodation establishments.

Aklanon tourists residing in Aklan without hotel bookings must accomplish the Certificate of Undertaking for accommodation.

Miraflores issued Executive Order No. 028-A directing all airlines, commercial or chartered, for the mandatory scanning of AkQuire Online Health Declaration Form (OHDC) Quick Response (QR) Code of passengers before boarding.

In addition, all business establishments in Boracay Island, including all ports of entry and exit, should scan the screenshots of QR codes or a copy of OHDC of their guests and port users.

All companies offering helicopter and seaplane services to Boracay Island are also mandated to submit copies of OHDC QR codes of their passengers before issuance of certificate of landing, while helipad operators should also scan the screenshot of QR code or copy of OHDC of their passengers before disembarkation.

Tourists verified to have submitted fraudulent swab or saliva test results, vaccination cards or certificates will have their issued OHDC QR codes invalidated and denied acceptance, boarding or entry by terminals or transport services.

Nevertheless, tourists who already entered Boracay Island with invalidated OHDC QR codes will be tested for COVID-19 at their own expense and subjected to quarantine protocols.

Data from the Malay Municipal Tourism Office showed a total of 40,474 tourists stayed in Boracay Island from Nov. 1 to 22, 2021.

Curfew hours in Boracay Island under Alert Level 2 have been adjusted from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. from the previous 12 midnight to 4 a.m./PN
