MANILA – University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons continued their winning ways in the 2022 Shakey’s Super League after a 25-19, 25-7, 25-18 sweep of San Beda University Lady Red Spikers over the weekend at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Negrense Alyssa Bertolano was named as the MVP of the Match after leading the Fighting Maroons with 12 points, including nine from attacks as they stay on top of Pool A with 3-0 slate.

After lopsided wins in the first two sets, the Fighting Maroons had the same aggression in the third frame with a 4-0 start but the Lady Red Spikers came back to snatch a 9-6 advantage.

The Fighting Maroons responded with 6-0 scoring to regain the advantage at 12-9 before taking cruise control at 20-15 via a Nina Ytang connection taking the fight away from the Lady Red Spikers.

Meanwhile, National University Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 25-8, 25-19, 16-25, 25-19 victory over fellow UAAP squad Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles to stay undefeated.

Mhicaela Belen was hailed as the MVP of the Match after delivering 11 points, all from attacks, to lead the way for the Lady Bulldogs, which topped Pool C with 3-0 slate. The Blue Eagles suffered their first defeat to drop to 2-1.

Adamson University Lady Falcons, meanwhile, kept its hopes of advancing into the next round alive with a masterful 25-15, 25-22, 25-16, win over erstwhile unbeaten Lyceum of the Philippines University Lady Pirates in Pool B.

The Lady Falcons zapped the energy out of the Lady Pirates in the second set as Adamson unleashed a 10-2 blitz to erase a 15-21 deficit for the reversal. It was all Lady Falcons in the third set.
