MANILA – Negrense cager Heinz Gabriel “Kobe” Demisana will be a Junior Maroon.
University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) boys’ basketball team manager Dale Villajuan told Panay News on Tuesday morning the transfer of the six-foot-seven Pontevedra, Negros Occidental-native from Bacolod Tay Tung High School is now green and go.
“We know Kobe is still a work in progress. (Just) give us some time and we will be able to develop his game,” he said. “He could even be a prospect for the Batang Gilas team.”
Aside from UPIS, other Manila-based schools who tried to recruit Demisana were University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University-Zobel, Far Eastern University and Adamson University
Demisana, a former Jr. NBA standout, admitted that it will be a challenge for him at the Junior Maroons, a team that was at the cellar during the UAAP Season 82 competition winning just one out of 14 matches.
“I know na God’s will itong paglipat ko sa UPIS. (It is) for me to become a better basketball player,” Demisana said.
“Isa sa challenges na nilo-look forward ko with UPIS is helping them sa UAAP. I already started developing my body strength kasi alam ko po ‘yung mga players doon ay malalakas,” he added
Demisana played a key role in Thunderbolts’ championship in the NBTC Regional Championships in Ibajay, Aklan that earned them the right to represent Western Visayas in the NBTC National Finals, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus disease 2019/.PN
