US Peace Corps to assist Roxas City on disaster response, climate adaptation

ROXAS City – This city will get technical and training assistance from the United States (US) Peace Corps International Response Volunteers to enhance its disaster preparedness, emergency response and climate adaptation programs.

International Response Volunteers will arrive here next month and stay for seven months for a series of related activities, according to Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

Dadivas disclosed that US Peace Corps Response Program Coordinator Milosil Edles Cruz visited his office, where they discussed the assistance and potential partnerships for other programs.

According to the US Embassy website, Peace Corps Philippines is the United States Government’s premier volunteer program in the Philippines.

Since 1961, over 9,300 Peace Corps Volunteers have worked alongside Filipino community members to support government and community development priorities.

For more than six decades, Peace Corps Philippines staff and volunteers have served as co-teachers, youth development facilitators, environmental experts, or fill other roles requested by the Philippine government and host communities./PN
