ILOILO City – Use money wisely.

This was Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco’s reminder to policemen across the region after receiving reports that some of them were engaged in illegal gambling and online cockfighting or e-sabong.

“Gamitin natin ang ating mga bonuses sa family natin or invest sa legal na business para may dagdag na kita,” Francisco said.

In relation to this, the region’s top cop directed provincial and city police directors to intensify the campaign against e-sabong and conduct spot inspections of policemen’s mobile phones.

“We warn them to stay away from illegal activities and illegal gambling to avoid debts. Alam natin na maraming pulis may malaki na loan or utang dahil sa e-sabong na ‘yan… My stern warning to all my personnel is to stay away from gambling kasi makasisira ng pamilya,” he said.

Similarly, when Police Colonel Noel Aliño took over as director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), he told police chiefs in the province to focus on illegal gambling and illegal drugs and not accept payola from gamblers and drug dealers.

“Halos wala na tayong break kasi busy tayo sa inspection sa mga police stations para paalalahanin ng kanilang duties and responsibilities, lalo na huwag mag-engage sa illegal gambling,” Aliño said./PN
