USLS-IS, Capitol, Silay claim titles in Bro. Ceci

BACOLOD City — University of St. La Salle-Integrated School (USLS–IS), Capitol Employees and Silay City won their respective titles in the 6th Bro. Ceci Hojilla Memorial Volleyball Tournament at the USLS’ Dizon Covered Court.

USLS-IS beat sister school St. Joseph School-La Salle, 25-17 and 25-21, in double elimination assignments to claim the Class C Boys title via sweep.

Capitol Employees warded off Silay City’s challenge, 25-21, 25-13, 24-26, and 25-13 to pocket the title in Class B men’s, while Silay City beat USLS Alumni Sabado Club, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-20 for the Class B women’s crown.

All games happened on Sunday.

In Class A men’s, USLS-B gave USLS-A ticket to the Invitational on Sept. 5 to 7, beating Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSA-B), 18-25, 25- 23, 25-23, and 25-21.

USLS-A and CSA-B finished with identical 4-1 win-loss card in single elimination, but the former accumulated 12 points as against 11 of the latter.

University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) defeated CSA-B, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18, to join USLS-A in the Invitational tournament.

USLS-B placed third, while UNO-R was fourth.

USLS-A will join teams from Iloilo Doctor’s College and Central Philippine University in Iloilo City, and Dumaguete City’s Foundation University for the championship in both men’s and women’s.

In Class B women’s, Silay City defeated USLS Alumni Sabado Club, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, and 25-20.

Mayor Oti Montelibano of Silay City inspired his team with his presence in the titular showdown.
