BACOLOD City – A student of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) who posted lewd remarks on social media against Vice President Leni Robredo is in trouble.

In his viral Facebook post, the first year Information Technology student urged President Rodrigo Duterte to have sex with the Vice President “so she will be enlightened because her lack of it has made her stupid.”

It was accompanied by the student’s photo flashing a “dirty finger” and identifying himself as a “diehard Duterte supporter and Marcos apologist,” earning him the ire of netizens.

This also did not sit well with the officials of the USLS, a Catholic private university run by the De La Salle Brothers.

The university’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) launched a thorough investigation on the matter, which they deemed “alarming” and “upsetting many,” including their alumni.

Over the weekend, the student from Talisay City, Negros Occidental issued an apology. He denied having a hand in posting the indecent remarks against Robredo.

“The controversy involving myself in the social media post against Vice President Leni Robredo created a tremendous impact on my family, VP Leni and her loved ones, and my institution. I am deeply sorry for everyone who was offended or insulted by the malicious remarks,” he wrote on Facebook.

The OVCAA, however, said, “he is not entirely free or spared from the responsibility of having participated by making similar comments, which is not remote, as can be surmised from the kind of personal photos he puts on his FB account.”

While investigation is ongoing, the OVCAA requested the student to make amends. It also confirmed that the student got enrolled in USLS on Aug. 17.

“We are doing our best to correct such behavior without condemning the one who has erred,” it said.

LENI SHRUGS OFF

On Twitter, Robredo shrugged off the student’s remarks, saying these would not affect her.

Hindi naman ako ang nabawasan. ‘Yung nada-damage ng mga ganitong comments ay ‘yung pamilya na pinanggalingan ng mga taong katulad nito, at ‘yung mga lider na iniidolo nila,” she wrote.
The Vice President further stated that, “leaders who bring out the worst in people are not what our country needs.”/PN
