MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and De La Salle University Green Archers settled for a 1-1 draw in the UAAP Season 81 men’s football tournament held at the FEU-Diliman pitch.
From a scoreless first half, the Green Archers shattered the deadlock at the 74th minute with a conversion from Negrense Shanden Vergara. The Growling Tigers, however, answered with a shot from Miguel Mercader for a tied score.
The Green Archers was poised to level with Far Eastern University Tamaraws on top of the table had it hang on against the Growling Tigers but instead remained in second place with 11 points.
In the other match, Adamson University Falcons and National University Bulldogs also shared the spoils following a 1-1 draw.
The Bulldogs drew first blood in the match with Ivan Lozano’s 18th minute goal but it was cancelled out by the Falcons in the second half on Allen Lozano’s 64th minute strike.
The vastly-improved Falcons recorded their fifth draw of the season to rise at eight points. The Bulldogs, for their part, now have nine points./PN
