MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses overcame their early struggles to defeat Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-20, 27-29, 15-25, 29-27, 15-10, in the 2022 Shakey’s Super League at past midnight Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Rookie Xyza Gula showed consistency from start to finish to be hailed as the Player of the Game.
The game started at 10:50 p.m. on Saturday and ended at around 1 a.m. on Sunday.
Negrense setter Cassie Carballo also made her presence felt with her playmaking, same with other newcomers Regine Jurado, Pia Abbu, Pierre Abellana, Angeli Bacalso and Bianca Plaza.
But it was veteran Ejiya Laure who steadied the ship and delivered the winning hits for the Golden Tigresses in the fifth and deciding set to complete their fight back from 1-2 sets down.

Trailing 1-2 after three sets, the Lady Tamaraws went on a strong run in the fourth frame to force a decider before FEU went for the kill in the fifth set to shock the Lady Blazers.
University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas cruised to a 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 27-25 domination over San Beda University Lady Red Spikers. Shaila Omipon tallied 17 points to lead the Perps.
University of the East Lady Warriors repulsed gritty Mapua University Lady Cardinals, 31-33, 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12. KC Cepada finished with 21 points to banner the UE offense.
