Manila – University of Santo Tomas (UST) loaded up its Tiger Cubs squad after securing the services of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles standout Leobert Andrew “LA” Casinillo.

Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo said that Casinillo is a welcome addition to UST’s high school team, which will have a new head coach in the upcoming UAAP season in Jinino Manansala.

“LA is a great addition to the UST’s basketball program,” Ayo told Panay News. “I first saw him when UST conducted a tryout in Cebu City early this year. He is still good for two to three years sa Tiger Cubs.”

“But since magka-align na ang program ng UST juniors and seniors team, it is also like a preparation for LA sa UST Tigers. May pwesto na siya sa seniors team ng UST,” he added.

Prior to his commitment to the Tiger Cubs in UAAP Season 83, Casinillo was hailed as the Most Valuable Player in the High School division of the 19th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament late last year.

In that same tournament, Casinillo also played a key role as the Magis Eagles swept the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters in the best-of-three titular showdown for the Cesafi juniors crown.

The 6-foot-1 Casinillo will join the loaded Tiger Cubs team being led by Jacob Cortez, Rojan Montemayor, John Javier, Zane Jalbuena and Mohammad Gunting.
