TRUE to its commitment of prioritizing the welfare of Ilonggo families, Uswag Ilonggo Party-list’s Congressman Jojo Ang, Uswag Ilonggo regional chairman, Iloilo’s Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., and Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias reached out to 8,000 Ilonggo families in South Cotabato and General Santos City to give financial aid.
Nearly 4,000 families in South Cotabato received P3,000 each and 2,500 families in General Santos City got P5,000 each.
The financial assistance distribution in South Cotabato, held at Surallah town’s gymnasium on Tuesday, July 17, was coordinated with the Office of Congressman Peter Miguel of the province’s 2nd District. Beneficiaries were from Koronadal City, Tangtangan, Lake Sebu, T’boli, Sto. Niño, Surralah, Norala, and Banga.
The payout, meanwhile, at Lagao Gym in General Santos City on July 18 was also in coordination with the Office of Congressman Loreto Acharon of the city’s Lone District.
This initiative was also supported by South Cotabato’s Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and Department of Social Welfare and Development Office Region 12 director Loreto Cabaya Jr.
“This is not the first and last time we will visit SOCCSKSARGEN. We will continue to assist the Ilonggos and bring more programs and projects so that they can benefit even if they are outside Western Visayas,” said Ang as he expressed his strong desire to support Ilonggos nationwide through various programs and projects that will greatly benefit them.
Ang added that this is Uswag Ilonggo’s way of uniting Ilonggos all over the country by advocating for them in the Congress and for ensuring that quality projects and programs serve the best interest of the people.
For his part, Mayor Pedro Matinong of the host municipality of Surallah shared that this is the first time they experienced a large-scale distribution of financial assistance.
“This is the first time we were able to fill in an entire gym and even extended outside, with people receiving thousands of pesos in assistance and we thank Uswag Ilonggo Party-list for making this happen,” Matinong said.
The two-day financial aid distribution also coincided with the celebration of T’nalak Festival, which is the founding anniversary of South Cotabato./PN
