ILOILO City – After more than four years of service in Western Visayas, Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, CESO III, has been reassigned as the new regional director of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the newly re-established Negros Island Region (NIR).

The reassignment was formalized through a department order signed by Undersecretaries Peter Irving C. Corvera and Wilfredo E. Cabral of the DepEd Central Office.

In Uytico’s place, Cristito A. Eco, currently the assistant regional director of DepEd-National Capital Region (NCR), has been designated Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Regional Director for DepEd Region 6 (Western Visayas).

“We adhere to the order. There is an urgent need because other agencies have already put up their regional offices at the NIR,” said Uytico.

He also extended his gratitude to Education Secretary Sonny Angara and the two undersecretaries for their trust and confidence in appointing him to lead the new region.

“To the Home of the Champions, I may not be perfect, but one thing is certain — I served your region with utmost dedication and integrity,” Uytico said in his farewell message to Western Visayas.

According to DepEd Region 6, Uytico was highly recommended for the NIR post by several local government units in Negros Occidental. He also led the drafting of the transition plan for the DepEd in the new region.

The agency added that Uytico welcomed his reassignment, noting that Dumaguete City, where the NIR regional office is likely to be based, is close to his residence.

“His stay in the region for more than four years was worth remembering. He is thankful to the Home of the Champions,” DepEd-6 said in a statement.

The schedule for the formal installation of the new regional director in Western Visayas is still being finalized./PN
