ILOILO City – A total of 910,435 Western Visayans have been included in the Group A priority master-list for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines as of April 18, data from the Department of Health (DOH) 6 showed.

The Group A priority group include frontline healthcare workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), adult with co-morbidities (A3), uniformed person including essential frontline workers (A4), and indigent people (A5).

DOH-6 revealed that there are 125,906 frontline healthcare workers listed under A1 group; 571,484 senior citizens under A2; 17,301 adult with co-morbidities under A3; 2,920 uniformed personnel and essential frontliners under A4; and 192,838 indigent people under A5.

Friday last week, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the inclusion of more sectors to be prioritized for vaccination as economic frontliners under the A4 priority group.

These are frontline workers in commuter transport, wet and dry markets, food service, news media, education, specific government agencies, and overseas workers.

The A4 group will be vaccinated after the inoculation of senior citizens and people with co-morbidities.

Dr. Mary Jane Juanico, spokesperson of the DOH-6, said the 2,920 master-listed under A4 were based on the submission of the local government units.

“With the completion of our master listing within the months of April and May, kag ang pagpanawagan man naton sa aton tanan nga mga essential frontline workers, mataas pa ini ang 2,920,” said Juanico.

“Effectively, may ara kita guro more or less 500,000 essential frontline workers sa nagkalainlain nga economy group,” she added./PN
