MANILA – Valenzuela City Classy returned to its winning ways in the 2024 MPVA season after a 25-21, 8-25, 25-20, 25-14 victory over Negros-ICC Blue Hawks on Monday night at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Bacoor City, Cavite.
Abegail Nuval finished the match with 12 points, all coming from attacks, to be named Player of the Game as the Classy notched their third victory as against 11 defeats this season.
According to Nuval, she is delighted to be able to contribute to the Classy’s service receive, which was not present during their tight first set win and lopsided second set defeat.
The Blue Hawks, the runner up team during the MPVA’s inaugural season, dropped to a 4-11 win-loss card.
Meanwhile, Quezon Tangerines (14-1) maintained their hold on the top spot after a dominant 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 victory against San Juan Lady Knights-Go for Gold (6-8).
Mary Grace Borromeo continued her fine play for the Tangerines with 13 points, built on 11 attacks and two service aces, to be named Player of the Game.
Defending champions Bacoor City Strikers (11-3), on the other hand, remained in second place in the standings after a 25-10, 25-14, 25-19 victory over Marikina Lady Shoemasters (0-14).
