Vallacar bus employees back ousted president

BACOLOD City – Around 3,000 employees of Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) still recognize Leo Rey Yanson as the bus company’s head of operations.

Yesterday, the VTI employees gathered at a resort owned by the Yanson family in Barangay Bubog, Talisay City, Negros Occidental to support the “ousted president.”

Leo Rey reportedly issued an interoffice memorandum granting all employees in Barangay Mansilingan a day-off.

On Monday, the bus companies’ board of directors released the appointment papers of his brother Roy as new president of the Yanson family’s five bus companies.

But Leo Rey does not recognize the action of his siblings – Roy, Emily, Ma. Lourdes, and Ricardo Jr. – in the board.

He stressed that the special meeting on July 7 in this city “illegally removed” him as president.

He also accused Roy of bringing in armed men inside the company.

“Our employees were coerced, intimidated, threatened, illegally detained in the work premises, and other acts were committed violating their civil liberties and right to privacy,” Leo Rey said./PN
