ILOILO – A 14-year-old girl was fatally hit by a van on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 20, in Barangay Acuit, Barotac Nuevo.
The van driver has been identified as Romy Toledo, 32, of Barangay Dugman, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Toledo immediately surrendered and is currently in the custody of the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station, awaiting the decision of the victim’s family regarding the filing of charges.
According to Lieutenant Cedrick Cruz, the victim was crossing the street after buying at the local market.
The van was traveling from Iloilo City en route to Sara, Iloilo when the incident occurred.
The young girl was rushed to the Barotac Nuevo District Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a few hours later due to severe head and body trauma. (With details from RMN Iloilo)/PN
