BACOLOD City – Twenty percent of the 3,000 employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental remain unvaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
But Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said he would not compel these employees to get anti-virus shots.
“We will just continue convincing them to get vaccinated,” he said.
Meanwhile, the municipal governments of Don Salvador Benedicto and Toboso announced that COVID-19 vaccination would be mandatory among their employees.
Effective January 2022, Mayor Marxlen Dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto said he will not renew the contracts of unvaccinated job order employees.
Toboso’s Mayor Richard Jaojoco, on the other hand, said employees are required to submit a vaccination card or a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test result for work effective Dec. 16./PN
