PONTEVEDRA, Capiz – A man and his wife were shot dead in Barangay Hipona here on Wednesday night.
Nolie Navarro was 59 while wife Juara was 56.
A suspect had been identified – Restituto “Sultan” Oquendo Jr., chief tanod of the barangay and son of Punong Barangay Restiuto “Resty” Oquendo Sr.
The Navarros were selling goods near the bridge adjacent to the town’s old public market.
According to residents, they heard five bursts of gunfire.
The Navarros died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect’s whereabouts were unknown as this was being written.
There were reports that last week, the couple were reprimanded for selling near the bridge./PN
