VETERAN actor Domingo “Menggie” Cobarrubias passed away Thursday morning, his wife said in a Facebook post.
“Goodbye my love. Thank you for 30 wonderful years. I love you. Dear God please give me the strength to be able to face this very difficult moment of my life,” Cobarrubias’ wife Gina Jorge Cobarrubias confirmed.
The actor’s wife did not mention the cause of death of her husband.
However, Cobarrubias’ niece Patricia Prudon earlier revealed on Facebook that their family has yet to get confirmation if her uncle died of COVID-19. In the same post which has already been deleted as of writing, Prudon said Cobarrubias passed away due to complications from pneumonia.
Among Cobarrubias’ last projects with the Kapamilya network were “Make It with You” and “Last Fool Show.”
Following his demise, the Cultural Center of the Philippines and its family of artists mourn his death.
“Paalam, Menggie. We send our love and sympathy to Menggie’s family and loved ones. To fellow artists and cultural workers, when all this is over and when we can embrace each other again we will gather to remember and celebrate Menggie’s life,” the CCP said in a statement.(ABS-CBN)
