ROXAS City – A veteran broadcaster in Capiz died after suffering a cardiac arrest in his sleep.

Noel Valentino, 61, was rushed to the Capiz Doctors Hospital where the attending physician declared him as “dead on arrival” around 5 a.m. on March 22.

Valentino started as a radio technician for IBC DYJJ. He later transferred to Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) DYVR Roxas as program director and eventually as the station manager.

“He retired in February 2013 after 23 years in RMN,” RMN DYVR Roxas station manager Ely Abarra told Panay News.

After his retirement, Valentino served as the program host for Arangkada, a weekly cable television program aired in Roxas City.

His name became a byword in every household after he was given a break in November 2019 to co-host “Baskog sa Politika” and “Baskitada sa Baskog” aired by Baskog Radyo during weekdays.

Indi gid kami magpati sa iya pagkadula. Nagakasubo ang bilog nga Capiz sa iya pagtaliwan,”according to City Councilor Midelo Ocampo.

Madamo ang nasubaan sa iya pagkadula, kag isa sya sa mga haligi sang Baskog Radyo,”said Baskog Radyo station manager Jay Lavapiez./PN
