MANILA – German-Filipino midfielder Stephan Schröck will be one of the faces of United City FC.
United City FC co-founder Eric Gottschalk said Schröck pledged his allegiance to the new identity of Ceres-Negros FC on Tuesday. The Azkals mainstay will be the team captain and one of the assistant coaches.

“Having Stephan (Schröck) commit to the new club means a lot not just to the organization but also to the fans. He is the captain and the leader we need, especially since we are trying to establish our new identity on and off the field,” Gottschalk said.

He added: “It would have been a big loss for Philippines football if  Schröck would leave the PFL (Philippines Football League) to compete elsewhere. His commitment to the local league shows his seriousness of trying to make a difference.”
Gottschalk revealed he was in a lot of meetings with Schröck the past weeks. The latter, according to the United City FC co-founder, wants to play a huge role for the team and win more PFL titles.

“He also wants to prepare for his second career once he steps off the field, so our objectives are aligned perfectly well,” Gottschalk added.

The full United City FC 2020 squad will be announced possibly at the end of this week./PN
