WITH how often he roasts his guests on his late-night talk show or the contestants on “It’s Showtime,” it’s easy to figure out Vice Ganda’s preferred brand of humor. Though, in the few times he diverges from insult comedy, he also appears to revel in the vagueness of his subtle jabs, leaving his fans to decode them.
An instance of the latter can be found on Thursday’s “It’s Showtime,” where the comedian quipped, “Kumusta presinto?”
Those two words naturally got the guessing game rolling, with people connecting the rhetorical question to a recent bar fight involving Terrence Romeo.
Vice Ganda denied that quote was a reference to the incident.
“I’m sure gusto niyong marinig na para kay Terrence Romeo ‘yun pero hindi po, hindi ‘yun para sa kanya,” he told reporters Friday.
He explained that he and his co-hosts were just having fun, after a contestant of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” opened up the topic about whether one can truly be friends with an ex.
“Nagbibiruan kasi kami, message-message sa mga ex mo. Sabi ko nga, huh? E ‘di kumusta ‘yung presinto, sabi kong ganu’n. Pero it’s not pertaining to anyone so bahala na kayo mag-isip,” added Vice Ganda, who has hinted on numerous occasions that he and Romeo had been romantically linked.
Romeo has denied such suggestions.
Vice Ganda’s much-talked about comment came after he said on Thursday’s “It’s Showtime”: “Hindi naman totoong nagiging magkaibigan ang magka-ex . . . Magkakilala lang kayo, ayos kayo, pero ‘di kayo magkaibigan.”
This prompted his co-host, Vhong Navarro, to dare him to say hi to the ex he was talking about. “Hi, kumusta presinto?” Vice Ganda asked, before bursting into laughter. (ABS-CBN News)
