BACOLOD City – Mayor Francis Fredrick Palanca of Victorias City, Negros Occidental went back to work after recovering from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The mayor was recently discharged from the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

Mayor Palanca, however, opted to self-isolate for a few more days at a quarantine facility in Victorias City.

Earlier this week, the mayor completed his quarantine. He presided the meeting of the city’s Emergency Operations Task Force on COVID-19 on Tuesday.

His son, Sangguniang Panlungsod member Derek Palanca, said his father suffered “mild COVID-19.”

Derek cited the remarks of his father’s doctors saying he was “clinically stable with no recurrence of the illness.

“No further quarantine needed but he was recommended to practice minimum health standards,” Derek said.

He added that his father is “functional” and was just isolated in a quarantine facility in Victorias to comply the remaining few days./PN
