Victorias to host FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup

NEGROS Occidental – Victorias City in Negros Occidental is set to make history as it prepares to host the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup from November 21 to December 7, 2025.

This milestone event, which will bring together 16 teams from across the globe, sets Victorias City’s position as a rising hub for international sports and a key player in Philippine football development.

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, in collaboration with Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President John Anthony Gutierrez, recently finalized the Hall and Host City Agreement, marking a new era for sports tourism in Negros Occidental.

The mayor expressed his excitement, calling the event an “extremely historic” opportunity that will showcase Victorias City on the global stage.

“This tournament is more than just a game; it’s a testament to our commitment to making Victorias City a premier hub for international sports. Hosting the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup will not only inspire young athletes but also boost our local economy and tourism,” said Mayor Benitez.

In preparation for this global sporting event, the city commenced construction of a P50-million artificial grass football pitch at Victorias National High School in April 2024.

Being the first FIFA-standard 11-a-side synthetic turf in Western Visayas, this project underscores the city’s dedication to football development. With an imported synthetic turf designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and last over 20 years, the field is expected to provide a world-class playing experience for local and international athletes alike.

“This field is better than the one I used to play on in Manila. The football community understands the significance of this project, and it will define Victorias City’s place in the sports world,” the city mayor added./PN
