IT IS SOMETHING downright prohibited by law and taboo to people of good will and common sense. It is, however, found not only here and there but practically everywhere among the educated and the ignorant, at home and in the streets.
It is a vicious reality the use and consumption of which are existent not simply now and then but night and day, Monday to Sunday. It is even a deadly item that is available not only within the domain of the rich and powerful but also among the ranks of the poor and miserable.
It promotes criminality not simply among the adults but among the youth as well. It is in fact the cause of thousands of killings 24/7 for the past several months. It is no longer news when such mortal anti-life events take place anytime and anyplace, in any manner through any means.
The inevitable conclusion comes to fore that there must be a well-established illegal drug trade hierarchy in the Philippines – if not a worldwide structured networking. It is a hierarchical reality akin to a pyramid where the tip is held by very few powerful winners and the base is composed of a huge number of miserable losers.
In fact, it is the well-arranged, duly accepted and accordingly respected hierarchical reality akin to a pyramid where the tip is held by very few powerful winners and the base is composed of a huge number of miserable losers. It is the well-arranged, duly accepted and accordingly respected hierarchical structure of the prohibited drug industry in the country that precisely makes its illegal agenda very stable and thus profitable as well – not to mention the well-chosen and thus also well-paid deadly protectors thereof.
From their manufacture to their consumption, there is practically nothing that can altogether stop it – although lessening it for some time can be done but only to come back better thereafter by bigger security through bigger pay-offs to those precisely tasked and expected to do away with it.
So it is that notwithstanding the several thousands of killings made, the much more thousands of living promoters plus users placed behind bars, the prohibited drug industry in the Country goes on, lives on – to enslave the young, to corrupt the old, to promote criminality not only in the streets but also in the homes here and there.
At the top of the illegal drug trade hierarchy are the relatively few amoral CAPITALISTS. Right after them are greedy and covetous MANUFACTURERS. Hereafter are the willing and cunning DISTRIBUTORS. Thereafter are the numerous and desperate SELLERS. Lastly are the thousands of pitiful miserable USERS.
Given the above pyramidal structure that makes the Philippines arrive to such a highly lucrative illegal drug availability, trade and consumption, some elementary advisories come to mind.
First, those at the base of the pyramid of the illegal drug phenomenon are rather easy to know, easy to entrap, and even easy to get rid of such as that precisely being done since the war against prohibited drugs started.
Second, those at the top of the pyramid may be sneaky and shrewd but it is definitely not that difficult much less really impossible to know who they are, where they are.
Third, while it is rather easy to know, to entrap, and even do away with those at the base of the pyramid, it is not really impossible to know those at its peak precisely to bring them down and thus render them disabled. When such a tactical approach is done, it is not hard to predict that those below can become easily neutralized./PN
