ILOILO City – The barangay council secretary of San Salvador, Banate, Iloilo was arrested yesterday in a police operation for unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.

Operatives of the Banate police and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group found in the house of 54-year-old Ariel Baylon a .45 automatic pistol, short and long shotguns, assorted live ammunitions and a gun holster.

The operatives were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Vicente Go of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 68.

According to Chief Inspector Fernando Punzalan of Banate, Baylon had no derogatory record and was not a drug personality.

“But he had unlicensed and homemade firearms which is (in) violation of the law,” Punzalan said.

Baylon faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. He was detained at the Banate police station./PN
