JANIUAY, Iloilo – A barangay kagawad from Matag-ub village was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation on Wednesday in front of his house in Sitio Kinambud.

The 46-year-old suspect now faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

According to Janiuay police chief, Police Captain Alwin Salmon, a poseur buyer successfully purchased a sachet of suspected shabu for P14,000 from the suspect he identified only by the alias “Barok”.

Fourteen more sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams and valued at approximately P340,000 were recovered.

The police monitored the suspect for three months before executing the operation.

While the precise origin of the shabu remains unconfirmed, police intelligence reports suggested they were sourced from Iloilo City.

Before this arrest, there were no recorded instances of the councilman’s involvement in illegal activities. The suspect is currently detained at the Janiuay municipal police station./PN
