ILOILO City – The barangay council treasurer of Hamod in the municipality of Batad, Iloilo was shot at her house.
Arlyn Ortiz, 33, died of a gunshot wound on the chest on Saturday at the Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Balasan town where she was taken.
The shooting happened at around 7:20 p.m. Ortiz was watching television at the sala with her mother.
According to Chief Inspector Ciriaco Esquilarga, Batad police chief, a .45 pistol was used on Ortiz.
“She was shot through an open window. The house had no fence,” said Esquilarga.
Investigators have not ruled out anything. Esquilarga said the shooting could be work-related.
Probers have a person of interest but Esquilarga declined to give more details, saying the investigation is ongoing./PN
