ILOILO City – The police of Maasin, Iloilo are hunting down a 39-year-old village watchman suspected of shooting a cousin in Barangay Panalian.
Marlon Mandate fled after shooting drunken cousin Leopoldo Macaya, 35, on Monday night, according to the police.

The cousins were arguing prior to the shooting around 10 p.m., said Senior Police Officer 1 Lino Macaya of the Maasin police station.
The shooting happened in the house of the suspect’s brother, Mario Mandate. There were binge drinking.

Macaya sustained gunshot wounds on the neck and head. He died at the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in nearby Cabatuan town.
“We are coordinating with the suspect’s family for his peaceful surrender,” said Senior Police Officer 1 Lino Macaya./PN
